  • Grand Charming Historic Hotel

This is an very nice hotel in the heart of the Historic district. I found it to be charming and comfortable, clean and convenient to the local culture. Mariachi bands play on the street below your window and there are all kinds of restaurants, nearby. If you want the luxury of a brand new hotel you have other choices but if you want to experience the charm of a grand old hotel this is great one. Though it may have lost some of the lustre of its heyday it has retained the charm and service of those elegant hotels of history. The staff was excellent! The housekeepers, the doorman, the restaurant staff all work to please you

  • Great location and food!

While the hotel may have lost much of its past glory it is certainly the best located hotel for travelers who prefer to be close to where the city's attractions are. The rooms are simple but clean, and the hotel's interior is colonial boasting historical charm everywhere you look. Super friendly staff, it's now environmentally friendly certified and has the best restaurant serving local food in the area. A good bang for your buck if you prefer functionality and an experience instead of high prices for modern decor.

  • Not meant to be for the room but instead, the restaurant in all it's glory!

This fabulously old and interesting hotel has so many pros that outway the con. I am a missionary and I took the pastor at least 5 times this past summer for lunch and dessert. What I love about the restaurant is the feel of being in a number of tall atrium-style hotels in Europe. Fascinating to me was the effiency and beauty of the serving women who all wore indiginous clothing with there hair wrapped around ribbon.

The pastor knew 2 of the servers by name and friendship because both of them had been working as servers for 26 years! The lunch was delicious. Also attractive were serveral seat gathers for people who just wanted afternoon tea with a sweet or waiting for a table.

People watching was very fun. On one of our many visits, a woman running for presidant was being interviewed by reporters. This is a hotel to be seen in-many business people. Quite a charming place for lunch or coffee.
